PRIVACY SHIELD NOTICE

Welcome to SocioMee, the blockchain powered social community app (“TechMee Inc”). We recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of its users who use the App and we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Shield Notice. 

This Privacy Shield Notice (“Notice”) describes our privacy practices regarding personally identifiable information (“PII”) that may be collected by SocioMee when you use the App. It also explains how SocioMee’s operations are compliant with the European Union’s (“EU”) General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

1. Definitions

For the purposes of this Notice, the following words and expressions shall have the following meanings: 
  • “PII” means personally identifiable information as defined under the applicable data protection legislation. 

  • The “App” means the internet-based platform where users can access the services of SocioMee. 

2. What PII Does SocioMee Collect?

The platform is designed to provide a secure platform for the exchange of information and activities between members. It is our aim to ensure its users, and those of our partner services, have control over their personal information – that includes ensuring our firm compliance with the GDPR of the European Union (EU). 

This Privacy Shield Notice (the “Notice”) outlines the personal information which SocioMee collects and how it is used in our operations. The Notice further explains the rights of our members and users to access and control their information. 

As defined by the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679, personal information is any information that can be used to identify an individual, such as name, contact information, social media accounts, passport, or taxpayer identification numbers. As such, SocioMee collects the following personal information from users and members:

2.1. Name – SocioMee collects first, middle, and last names, as well as any nicknames, aliases, and other names users may choose to use within the app.

2.2. Date of birth – For security purposes, SocioMee collects the date of birth to verify member’s age and identity.

2.3. Contact Information – SocioMee collects contact information provided by users, such as phone numbers, email addresses, and Social Media account usernames.

2.4. Gender – SocioMee collects a member’s gender information to ensure equal rights and opportunities within the app. This data is used to ensure no gender-based discrimination is present within the community. 

2.5. User Profile Information – SocioMee collects user information such as profile details and preferences, location, interests, and profile photos to better personalize the user experience.

2.6. Usage Data – SocioMee collects data regarding your use of the app, including usage information, pages clicked, posts read, messages sent, and other activity.

2.7. Transaction Data – SocioMee collects transaction data, such as transaction histories, payments, and billing information for a more accurate and secure services.

2.8. Payment Information – SocioMee may collect sensitive financial information, such as credit card, digital payment information to support and secure online transactions.

We value the integrity of personal information and do not, under any circumstances, distribute or sell any personal information or data to third parties. We also utilize safety measures to ensure your personal information is inaccessible from third-party sources. If you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to our data protection officer, who is available to answer any inquiries relating to our personal information policies. 

Should you wish to limit the scope or access of your personal information, SocioMee provides a range of opt-in and opt-out options to help you make informed choices. When personal information must be collected, SocioMee will clearly identify its purpose and the consequences of not providing the information.

3. How Does SocioMee Use Collected PII?

SocioMee may use collected PII to: 

  • Provide our services of connecting businesses to consumers of their services,
  • Allow for easy login/signup to the App, 
  • Improve our customer service, 
  • Customize our App and related services, 
  • Provide payment processing services and dispute resolution,
  • Verify your identity,
  • Respond to your inquiries, 
  • Communicate with you about the App, 
  • Track and analyze usage of the App, 
  • Administer surveys, promotions, or other activities or events sponsored by SocioMee,
  • Use the activity logs for marketing and service improvement,
  • Detect, investigate and prevent activities that may be illegal or violate our policies.

We may also use collected PII to help identify a user’s identity in order to verify the accuracy of their information, or to respond to customer service inquiries.

4. How Does SocioMee Share PII?

SocioMee is committed to protecting the privacy of its users and to treating the personal information of all its users in accordance with applicable European Union (EU) data protection laws. This Privacy Shield Notice describes how SocioMee shares personal information of users with third parties.

SocioMee treats all user’s personal information collected in the EU/EEA in compliance with data protection laws. We may collect and share personally identifiable information (PII) associated with an individual or collected from an individual when a user visits our website or use our services, including information associated with or identifying the user’s name, address, or other contact information, occupation or other demographic information.

SocioMee takes reasonable steps to ensure that PII is stored and secured in a manner consistent with data protection standards and in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Personal information is used only to provide the services and features associated with our website and app, and it is not shared with any other parties without the user’s consent.

We may also use cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies to collect certain electronic information (including IP addresses, browser type, operating system, device type, and other technical information) when users visit our website. This is done to enhance the user experience by providing relevant content and ads tailored to the user based on their device, geographical location, preferences, and other activity. We might also use this information for analytics purposes to monitor user activity on our website.

Therefore, we may share PII with third-party service providers who assist us in providing our services. For instance, we share PII with payment processor, advertisement network or analytics companies, which help us to host our website and provide related services, operate our app, display targeted ads, and analyze user behavior.

We also share PII with third parties under specific circumstances. For example, we may disclose PII if required by a court order or to comply with other legal requirements, to protect the safety of our consumers or to protect the safety and security of our systems, or to prevent or stop activity we may consider to be, or to pose a risk of being, illegal, unethical, inappropriate or legally actionable. We may also share PII with third parties in the event of a corporate merger, acquisition, change of corporate control, sale of assets, or other corporate reorganization. In these cases, the use and disclosure of your PII will be subject to the new entity’s privacy policy.

We also provide our users with the ability to opt-out of data sharing with third-party service providers. We also provide users with the ability to exercise their data protection rights, including the right of access, rectification, and request their data to be erased.

We may also collect PII if you provide feedback, use message boards, or contact us with questions or comments. In such cases, we take reasonable steps to safeguard such information.

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access or disclosure of PII in our possession and to maintain data accuracy and to help ensure the correct use of data.

We have implemented reasonable technical, organizational and administrative measures to safeguard your PII in accordance with EU data protection laws. All our staff that process PII are subject to confidentiality obligations. All our data processing activities are conducted in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

5. What Rights does the User Have over their PII?

The European Union has put in place strong protections for the rights, freedoms, and privacy of its citizens, and SocioMee- custom blockchain powered social community app must equate the level of transparency, lawfulness, relevance, and purpose limitation that is expected of them in order to remain compliant with the EU laws. 

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Privacy Shield Framework, SocioMee allows tokenized access to user Personal Information (PII). PII refers to any information that directly or indirectly identifies an individual, such as name, Internet Protocol (IP) address, unique online identifier, and location. 

At SocioMee, we value privacy and understand the need for personal data to remain secure and confidential. Therefore, by using our custom blockchain powered social community app, our users are guaranteed a set of reserved rights that allow them to remain in control over their data.

These rights include: 

5.1. Right to access – our users have the right to access the data that SocioMee holds about them as registered users of the custom blockchain powered social community app. This allows them to know precisely what data we have gathered and how it is being used. 

5.2. Right to-be forgotten – when a user wants to terminate their service with SocioMee, they have the right to request all their data to be deleted from our systems. We must comply to this request unless there is a legitimate purpose to retain the data. 

5.3 Right to rectification – if SocioMee recognizes that the information we’ve collected is inaccurate or incomplete, our users are allowed to request for their data to be changed in order to reflect what is accurate and in accordance with the user’s preferences. 

5.4. Right to data portability – if our users decide to change to a different service, their data can be transferred to another custom blockchain powered social community app provided that the other app accepts the same or similar level of data protection as SocioMee. 

5.5. Right to object – should users wish to stop the use of their data for any of the previously mentioned purposes, they have the right to deny us access and/or use of such data. 

5.6. Right to withdraw consent – should our users feel that their data is being utilized for purposes that are beyond their consent or understanding, they have the right to withdraw such consent.

These rights are provided in order to ensure that our users have trust and confidence in our custom blockchain powered social community app. In cases where these rights overlap with each other, SocioMee ensures that each individual will be granted the full scope of the protection available. 

More to these rights, SocioMee has a duty to provide clear information regarding the nature and extent of our data processing activities. Furthermore, all data subjects (users) must receive a comprehensive explanation, both in regards to the purposes for which their PII is being used as well as for the manner in which their PII is collected, stored, and used. 

We take all reasonable actions necessary to make sure that our users are informed well in advance in the event that their PII shall ever be used for a purpose other than what they have originally agreed to. Our users are to be notified of our intent to disclose any of their information outside the scope of the provision of services agreed upon, and our users must be offered the opportunity to opt-out in such cases.

It is our aim at SocioMee to provide our users with the best experience possible, and so we strive to ensure that our app is compliant with all applicable laws, such as GDPR and the Privacy Shield Framework. We have provided the full scope of the rights that our users have over their PII and remain committed to upholding these rights in order to enable our users to maintain trust and confidence in our service.

6. Where Does SocioMee Keep Users’ PII?

Here at SocioMee, we are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal information of our users. We have taken extensive measures to ensure that we comply with the European laws on data protection and privacy and have incorporated all the necessary measures to protect the personal information of our users.

SocioMee processes personal information on behalf of our users and so we have taken the necessary measures to protect the information. We meet the standards prescribed by the European laws and have implemented measures that ensure that we handle and store personal information in a secure and confidential manner.

We use technical and organizational measures that secure all personal information. Specifically, we store our user’s PII on a secure cloud-based server protected by industry standard technologies like encryption and authentication. Moreover, all of the passwords associated with our user accounts are stored in an encrypted format and are never accessible to any party, including SocioMee administrators or server personnel.

Moreover, SocioMee uses a strict operational process which involves storing all personal information collected from our users only for the purposes for which it was collected and in a manner that complies with the required legal standards. Our user accounts are protected with several layers of security and upon termination, all of the user data is automatically deleted from our servers immediately.

And if any of the personal information collected from our users is moved between different countries, our servers are always hosted in countries which ensure the same level of privacy and data protection as the European region. If any other country is used, stringent measures have been taken to apply the European privacy and data protection laws to any information sent to other countries.

We also understand the importance of our user’s data and never share, rent or sell it to any third parties. We also never use our user’s personal information and we disclose it only if it is required by law, or when we believe that such action is necessary to protect and defend the rights, property or safety of SocioMee or our users. Finally, we understand our responsibility to enhance the security and privacy of our user’s information and so we strive to achieve this through well-defined policies, procedures and internal training. We take steps to ensure that our employees are aware of the expectations of the company in terms of data protection and privacy and all employees have gone through proper security screenings and background checks prior to employment.

With that said, SocioMee is committed to protecting the personal information of our users and ensure that such information is handled in a secure, confidential and compliant manner. We are confident of our infrastructure and processes which protect the personal information of our users, and we are fully compliant with the European laws and regulations on data privacy and protection.

7. How Does SocioMee Protect User’s PII?

SocioMee has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage. These measures include encryption, pseudonymization, access control and password authentication, to secure our physical data centers and virtual private networks. 

We review our privacy protection measures on a regular basis to make sure they are up-to-date and comprehensive. In the event of a breach of security or data loss, we will contact you as soon as possible, and take all steps necessary to help recover or secure the data affected. 

8. How Long Does SocioMee Keep User’s PII?

In accordance with the European laws, SocioMee is committed to safeguarding your personal data for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in our Privacy Shield Notice.

Your PII will be retained as long as it is necessary to serve the purposes for which it was collected. The criteria for storing this data include, but are not limited to, how long is necessary to satisfy any and all legal, accounting, administrative, or security requirements. 

In the event that you make a request to access, delete, update, or transfer your data, we will take reasonable steps to ensure this request is carried out promptly and within the time frames required by law.

In the event that you exercise your right to object or withdraw your consent to the processing of your PII, these requests will be honored and carried out within a reasonable period of time. We will retain your PII for those purposes for which your consent was withdrawn, until the request is fully satisfied. 

For certain types of legal proceedings such as court proceedings or proceedings concerning the defence of a legal interest, we may keep your data for as long as is necessary to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights or to meet the legitimate interest of a third party.

In general, we will retain PII that has been collected for no longer than is reasonable necessary for the purpose for which it was provided.

In the event we hold onto your data for any period longer than 3 years, or which is beyond the above outlined period, a Data Retention Notice will be sent to you in advance, requesting for your approval to retain such PII. Depending on the nature of the PII, approval may be sought from you each year. 

We take reasonable steps to ensure that all PII that is stored by us is accurate and up-to-date, and we regularly review the data we store to ensure we are not holding onto any PII for longer than is necessary.

9. What are SocioMee’s Responsibility and Recourse

If EU users believe that SocioMee has failed to comply with this Privacy Shield Notice, they have the right to make a complaint to SocioMee. All complaints received will be assessed and investigated in accordance with our data protection policies. Any individuals who are not satisfied with the outcome may refer the matter to the competent Data Protection Authority.

This Privacy Shield Notice is issued and effective as of May 25, 2023. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Shield Notice at any time, so please check back periodically for changes. If we make changes, we will post the changes to this Privacy Shield Notice
